About Us homestays

Founded in December, 2009,  International Homestay Agency - Chico (The Agency), specializes in international student homestay placements where we match incoming international students attending Chico State University, Butte College, local elementary, middle and high schools, with local families for periodic short or long-term housing in residences within the Butte County area in and around the Chico community.
 

With many partner connections in the community, we provide homestay placements for those individuals that would like to be more independent, have more privacy, and do not want to be immersed in a dorm or apartment environment. We work with local families to provide a secure and loving environment in the Chico area, central to schools and transportation.

Our Director, Lynda, has been very active in homestay placements for the past 24+ years as a host sponsor family participant and as a placement agent for Int'l Home Missions - USA, which has been placing international students from Japan and S. Korea since 1989.  She possesses an incredible gift of compassion, love, patience and takes personal interest in the students and their host families. Her personalized service and care make each students' stay the best that Chico has to offer.  
 

Lynda has traveled internationally to Japan and Korea many  times to meet families of students that have participated in a homestay in the Chico area and speaks to organizations and schools interested in future homestay experiences.

Our Administrator, George, holds a Master's Degree in Business Administration (MBA), has over 30 years of entrepreneurial business experience and handles the administrative and logistical tasks of the Agency.  He has been involved in many homestay experiences, served as President of International Home Missions - USA for two years, and has been involved with many facets of past homestay programs. His focus to administrative details and business matters is an invaluable asset to the Agency.
